Us Too: The Future of Dirty Girls Ministries and the Women We Serve

15 years ago, it was estimated that at least 20% of Christian women struggle with pornography addiction—at the time—I was one of them. However, we can assume the issue has grown exponentially with the accessibility of the internet, the normalization of erotic novels and movies, and the intentional targeting of women by porn producers.

At Dirty Girls Ministries, we are now in our 9th year of ministry and yet we have no full-time paid staff, myself included. There are so many things we feel called to do and want to do as an organization but we are sorely limited by our financial resources.

To give you some context, we are contacted by women every single day from around the world who are struggling, looking for answers, looking for hope...

The Black & White of Fifty Shades of Grey

Author: Crystal Renaud

As Valentine’s Day approaches, many women will flock to their local theater to see Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to the widely popular film and erotic book series Fifty Shades of Grey. There is a significant irony about linking a holiday about love and romance with a film that glorifies the use of BDSM (bondage, dominance, sadism, masochism) through manipulation and coercion in a relationship.

While the Fifty Shades of Grey series is often categorized as a romance, it actually normalizes a very serious issue in today’s culture: sexual violence against women. Just like in mainstream pornography, the Fifty Shades of Grey series perpetuates the sexual exploitation of women.

The National Center of Sexual Exploitation states, “The popular series promotes torture as ...

Ministry Year in Review

2015: A Year of Growth | 2016: A Year of New Vision

Between joining a gym and losing 30 pounds, I have taken some much needed strides in making my overall health a priority. I also entered the last year of my bachelor’s program at Liberty University and will complete my coursework in March. I am eager to be finished with this chapter and look forward to applying for grad school this spring. For the last 16 weeks, I have completed my senior psychology internship at Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers. It has been such a blessing to get to serve these women and their unborn babies. Walking women through the hardest decision of their lives is so humbling. And being there to see these women choose life for their babies is witnessing a miracle every single time...

*UPDATED* Your Kid is Watching Porn: A Word of Warning for Parents That’s Worth Sharing

Screen Shot 2014-07-10 at 12.19.26 AM

By Crystal Renaud

I am not a parent. I am not even married. But if you’re familiar with my story, then it is no surprise that I was once a kid who encountered porn and became a porn-addicted teen. For me, it all began when I was just 10 years old.

This image is me at the age of 10… just a few months after the discovery of a pornographic magazine in my brother’s bathroom which catapulted me into an 8-year addiction to porn and other sexual behaviors. I show it to you so that you can see with your own eyes, what 10 years old really looks like. I think in today’s culture of kids growing up too fast, we forget how young this really is.

20 years later we know that pornography has only become more mainstream, easier to find… and to hide...

Your Generosity Makes a Difference!

W3 basic graphicWhole Women Weekend is quite a financial undertaking. But thanks to the generosity of others, we’ve been able to scholarship close to 15 women who could not afford to attend on their own.

Eight of these women include residents of The Samaritan Women, a Christian organization in the Baltimore area providing restorative care to survivors of human trafficking. These precious women will get to hear from Annie Lobert, a human trafficking survivor herself, and learn what it means to be identified by Christ, and not by their past or what has been done to them. Additionally, we are offering a service project during the conference that will directly benefit this organization.

I want to take just a moment to ask you to prayerfully consider supporting this event with a financial gif...
