Willful Entrapment

Our friends over at FireTrigger are rereleasing their independent film Willful Entrapment as a new DVD experience.

Willful Entrapment is a visually arresting short film that removes the veil from the the perception of “innocent fun” from pornography and depicts it as the door to psychotic addiction and destruction that it really is.

They’ve taken their hard-hitting film and are rereleasing it, adding discussion questions and more to the already powerful material.

From FireTrigger: Our aim is to create something that would really help organizations / churches effectively engage their people on this topic. Be part of the first wave to gain access to this material and have the opportunity to let us know direclty what you need.

You can be one of the first to access this material by applying to receive a Beta DVD.

It is For Freedom : Excerpt from Dirty Girls Come Clean

Greeting, my friends.

Independence Day is one of my favorite times of the year. I am so very proud to be an American and am so very thankful for the service men and women who have fought so bravely to defend the freedoms we live with everyday. And I pray you would stay safe and give thanks for the freedom so many sacrificed to provide us.

I thought today, on this Independence Day, that this particular excerpt from Dirty Girls Come Clean would be fitting. It’s a plea for freedom and a thanksgiving to Christ for giving us greatest freedom there is.

Happy Fourth of July to one and all!

With hope,
Crystal Renaud

IT IS FOR FREEDOM, excerpt from Dirty Girls Come Clean

From Roe v. Wade to lesbianism to birth control, women’s liberation movements have made it their platform to give women a right over their own bodies.

Some good and some not so good have come out if it. But fast forward to today, and we see that women are once again in a fight for liberation.

But this time, it is a personal fight and one that is more often fought all alone. In the last ten years especially, our culture of sexually provocative advertising and media have aided in the trans- formation of women from sexually submissive into sexually aggressive…and sexually obsessed.

As such, this is resulting in a rapidly growing addiction to pornography and sexual promiscuity among women today.

In May 2010, a New York Times article was written about me, the groups I led, Dirty Girls Ministries, and this whole issue of women’s addiction to pornography.

It struck a chord (or a nerve rather) and left some people saying, “Is this Crystal Renaud an antifeminist? Masturbation, sexual exploration, and pornography use is normal. She is setting women’s lib back a hundred years.”

You can read the comments for yourself. But questions and comments like these could not be further from the truth.

What is liberating about a woman being in bondage to her own perverse sexuality?

I know the bondage of pornography and compulsive sexual behavior firsthand, as I spent eight years of my own life in this addiction.

And what is liberating is taking back ownership of what we see, what we hear, and what we do. And as a result, living lives free from the things that can keep us in bondage.

That, my sweet sisters (and brothers), is liberation.

Liberation that only biblical sexual wholeness can provide you.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).

So, I’m Writing a Book… WHAT?!

I know the bondage of sexual sin and addiction. Since the age of 10, I have struggled with some form it. What I’ve noticed in my 14+ years of experience is the lack of resources for women to find freedom. Sure, there’s some of books about porn and sexual addiction for men. But try and find something targeted at women that shows a real woman’s story, biblical and relevant tools for overcoming the struggle that also provides hope, and you will be hard pressed to find anything. I know, because I’ve looked! I spent years in bondage just looking for a way out… and I know if there had been a book out there like this, my struggle would have been shorter-lived. I would have had hope in knowing I wasn’t alone.

And that is what I feel God is calling to me to do.
Write the book that hasn’t yet been written.

The working title right now is, “Dirty Girls: The New Porn Addicts.” Whether it gets picked up by a publisher or not — I know that I will use what I write in the groups I lead, within our counseling department at church and online as a possible e-book.

So that is where I am going to start.

There’s more to come. Including a MASSIVE blog campaign to promote an online survey. The survey is going to be used to help collect statistics and will be vital for gathering other information to help define the direction of my book.

If you’re interested in being a part of this on a grassroots level… ie. blogging like crazy, emailing all your friends… churches… neighbors… families… co-workers… LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW and I will be sure you have all the necessary info first (in the next couple weeks).

Thank you for this blog and for allowing me to share my story and my struggles so openly. By doing that you’ve already helped to begin this whole process without you or I even knowing it! I ask for your dedicated prayer as I begin to write the outline and formulate the online survey.

getting IT back…

the last few days have been seen through old cynical eyes and tear-blurred eyes and fresh new eyes. i’m overwhelmed by Him and don’t have sufficient words to describe anything i am feeling. the only feeling i can describe semi-accurately is how i feel like i just returned from summer camp.

God is more intimate with me in this moment than i’ve been with Him in a long time.

i will share more soon.

“the pain inside has erased your hope for love but soon you will find
that I’ll give you all that your heart could ever want and so much more. . .

when you feel like you’re alone in your sadness and it seems like no one in this whole world cares and you want to get away from the madness, you just call my name and I’ll be there. . .

Call my name, say it now I want you to never doubt
the love I have for you is so alive”

you know you’re too busy when…

there isn’t time to decently blog.
just to fill you in:

1. I am super busy. A lot of events and activities coming up which means, busy times for the 2 of us that make up the Communications Department. So busy, in fact, that for the first time in 8 years, I am not with the 300+ students and leaders at camp this week. Kinda sad, really. It is great to see ministries planning and Westside moving right along, but man! Here’s a snapshot our ever-growing “to do” board.

2. Westside is in a season of change. One that I am pretty excited about — but at the same time — a bit anxious for. Dan Southerland, a long-time guest pastor and adjunct staff member is on the table as our next full-time Lead Teaching Pastor. As most of you know, we’ve been influx since April 2007 when our Senior Pastor had to resign. This is a big deal for our staff, church body and well, Dan! There’s a church vote on July 27. On top of this staff change, there are a lot of other staff changes that need prayer covering — people leaving, shifting jobs or new hires.

3. Some of our pastors have caught wind of my blog and have ask me to join a team of volunteers to write weekly devotionals. These will be written in relation to whatever message series we’re in and distributed to about 3,000 readers. Pretty cool.

4. I head to Chicago in just under 3 weeks for the “Gifted to Lead” Women’s Conference at Willow Creek. This is kind of a big deal for me. I haven’t actually traveled to a conference in over 3 years. I’m ready for some “intentional development.”

5. And just a few weeks after that, I head to South Africa. Wow! I AM SO EXCITED. I am still close to $900 short of the total ($2824) needed for the trip. But I trust that will come together. I am overseeing some of the team’s HIV/AIDS trainings as well as planning the African classroom sessions. I am so humbled to be used in this way. (more info/donate)

I appreciate your prayers through all of the afore mentioned craziness!! All the busy is making me feel a bit disconnected because the introvert in me is screaming for isolation when I have any down time. I promise to do my best in keeping my blog interesting in midst of it all.

What have you been up to?
