Christian Grey Belongs in Jail, Not in Your Bedroom

By Crystal Renaud

I wasn’t going to write a blog post about the new Fifty Shades of Grey movie because literally (and that “literally” is not exaggerated) everyone else has and we’ve already discussed the craze here and here. However, after actually viewing the trailers and seeing the hype from the media, I can’t get the following thought out of my mind:

“Christian Grey belongs in jail. Not in your bedroom.”

Okay, so JAIL may be putting it strongly, but I don’t think I am too far off.

Perhaps it is because I was once the young, mousey girl taken advantage of by an older, stronger man, but the appeal of Christian Grey is totally lost on me...

Top Posts of 2014

We had a great year of ministry, including some pretty hard-hitting blog posts. Here are our top posts of 2014 as based on readership, shares, and buzz… and leave a comment to share with us what you would like for us to talk about in 2015!

CHRISTIAN GREY BELONGS IN JAIL, NOT IN YOUR BEDROOMbookandfilm

This was by far our most controversial and most talked about post of 2014 (and ever). In this post, Crystal Renaud discusses the Fifty Shades of Grey craze, specifically what is means about our culture today. This is not a “we hate all porn in all its forms because we’re Christian” kind of post. It is a very honest conversation with all of the women, specifically the Christian women, who believe this book (and upcoming film) is fun, exciting, riveting, and good for the bedroom.

Major Changes to Whole Women Weekend Registration!

Whole Women Weekend (formerly our WHOLE Women’s Conference) is a unique intensive retreat for women who are seeking true and lasting inner healing from hurts & hang-ups, trauma, bad habits, addictions, and more and who wish to encounter God in a way they never have before.

As an act of faith, we are forgoing our original registration fee of $350, the average cost per person, and instead, ask you to partner with us by making a tax-deductible donation of any size to register for Whole Women Weekend.

Registration includes 3 nights lodging, all meals throughout the retreat, snacks, all recreational activities (except rock wall, zipline & big swing), all main sessions, workshops, and materials. A minimum donation of $50 is suggested, but the cost of putting on this event is great (totaling...

Year-End Giving, an Exciting 2015 and You

We at Dirty Girls/Whole Women Ministries have much to be thankful for this year. From almost 2,700 members in our online community, to the over 800 women who worked our new 90 Days to Wholeness program, and almost 200 downloads of our smartphone app, and more—it is an unprecedented time for women recovering from strongholds. Our goals for next year are even bigger.

For example, in August 2015, we are putting on Whole Women Weekend — a unique weekend intensive retreat for women seeking true and lasting inner healing from hurts & hang-ups, trauma, bad habits, addictions, and more and who wish to encounter God in a way they never have before. And you can partner with us to make Whole Women Weekend happen.

Our year-to-date donations received are a little over $16,000 — twice what we recei...

DGM MEMBERSHIP—A PLACE TO BELONG

Recovery from pornography addiction, any addiction in fact, is a process. At Dirty Girls Ministries, we want to come alongside you through our recovery process made up of five steps: Surrender, Confession, Accountability, Responsibility and Sharing. If you are unfamiliar with this process, can learn more about it HERE.

For those of you struggling with an addiction of a sexual nature, you know the anguish of holding onto this secret and not knowing who you can confide in. As women, we believe we’re the only ones struggling in this way. And addiction LOVES isolation. But confession brings light and a sense of community. And it just so happens that a community is exactly what we have here at DGM...
